The Relational Foundation of
World-Class Fine Vintages
Eliminating synthetic estimates and mathematical impossibilities. Explore verified cuvees, strict
third-normal form (3NF) schemas, database-level varietal blend sum triggers (SUM ≤ 100%),
and secondary auction valuations enforced by our ≥ 3 Observations Rule.
Sommelier Vintage Portal
Search real-time denormalized vintage tables, filter by appellation and varietal composition, or inspect secondary auction valuations.

Relational 3NF Architecture
How WineDB separates producer metadata from vintage expressions and enforces strict schema constraints.
Third-Normal Form (3NF)
Flat spreadsheets repeat producer foundation years and appellation details thousands of times. WineDB normalizes entities into wineries, wines, vintages, blends, and tasting_profiles linked by strict foreign keys.
Blend Sum Check Trigger
Database trigger trg_check_blend_sum_insert fires on every INSERT or UPDATE to vintage_blends. If the cumulative sum across varieties for a vintage exceeds 100.001%, SQLite raises an immediate ABORT.
Controlled VIVC Ampelography
Grape varietal names are automatically normalized against VIVC ampelographic registries during ingestion, mapping synonyms (e.g., Shiraz → Syrah, Cannonau → Grenache) to canonical keys.
Valuation Rule (≥ 3 Observations)
Secondary market indexes are calculated strictly from public auction hammer prices. If fewer than 3 independent lots are observed within 12 months, the index remains NULL to prevent speculative bias.
